Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 1, 2026 Effective: June 1, 2026

This Policy describes how LaneSyncPilot handles information when you use our companion app, website, and cloud services. Device software running locally on your comma unit is primarily governed by open-source practices described in our documentation.

1. Overview

We designed the LaneSyncPilot App around end-to-end encryption (E2E) for drive content: routes, logs, and dashcam footage are encrypted on your device before upload. We do not hold decryption keys and cannot read your saved drive content.

We collect limited account and operational data necessary to run the service. We do not sell your personal information.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account information

  • Email address (if you create an account)
  • Authentication tokens and device identifiers for the App
  • App version, OS type, and crash logs (if you opt in or if required for debugging)

2.2 Drive and video data

  • Encrypted blobs: When a drive syncs, encrypted route data and video segments are stored on our servers temporarily.
  • Metadata: Non-content metadata such as upload time, byte size, encryption envelope version, and save status (saved vs. unsaved) may be stored in plaintext to operate the 7-day retention system.
  • Saved drives: When you tap Save, encrypted content remains until you delete it or close your account.
  • Unsaved drives: If you do not Save within 7 days of upload, encrypted video and associated cloud objects are permanently deleted from our servers. Local downloads on your phone are not affected.

2.3 Device software (comma unit)

LaneSyncPilot on-device software may log drives locally on your comma device storage. Upload to the cloud occurs only when you link the App and sync. We do not receive cloud uploads without your configuration.

2.4 Website

Our website may collect standard server logs (IP address, user agent, pages visited, timestamps) for security and analytics. We do not use third-party advertising trackers on lanesyncpilot.ai.

3. How we use information

  • Provide sync, Save, download, and share features
  • Enforce the 7-day deletion policy for unsaved content
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, and debug outages
  • Respond to support and legal requests
  • Comply with applicable law

4. End-to-end encryption

Encryption keys are generated and stored on your devices. When you share a drive, sharing uses cryptographic mechanisms so recipients you authorize can decrypt content. If you lose your keys or devices, we cannot recover encrypted drives.

5. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We may share data only:

  • With infrastructure providers (hosting, CDN) under contractual confidentiality obligations
  • When you explicitly share a drive link with another user
  • To comply with law, court order, or to protect rights and safety
  • In connection with a merger or acquisition, with notice where required

Because drive content is E2E encrypted, lawful requests for content typically cannot be fulfilled without your keys.

6. Retention

  • Unsaved videos: deleted from servers after 7 days
  • Saved drives: retained until you delete them or delete your account
  • Account data: retained while your account is active; deleted within 30 days of verified deletion request unless law requires longer retention
  • Server logs: typically rotated within 90 days

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise rights, contact privacy@lanesyncpilot.ai. We will verify your request before acting.

California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA. EEA/UK users may have rights under GDPR — lawful bases include contract performance and legitimate interests in operating a secure service.

8. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA where applicable). We do not knowingly collect data from children. Contact us to request deletion if you believe a child provided data.

9. International transfers

Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. We use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers where required.

10. Security

We use encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and monitoring. No system is perfectly secure; report vulnerabilities to security@lanesyncpilot.ai.

11. Third-party links

Our site links to GitHub, openpilot, the App Store, and Android SDK distribution channels. Their privacy practices govern those services.

12. Changes

We may update this Policy. We will revise the “Last updated” date and, for material App changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
